Demonstration Supporting Gandhi, New York City

The crowd demonstration at South Ferry were protesting the British clubbing of the non-violent followers of Indian leader Mahatma Gandhi. According to the notes on the photograph, the demonstration erupted into violence shortly after this photograph was taken, resulting with police and civilian casualties.
